HEIC is the format iPhones have shot in by default since iOS 11. It saves space on your phone, but many websites, Windows apps and government upload forms don't accept it. Converting to JPG gives you a file that opens everywhere.

What to know about HEICJPG

  • JPG is accepted by virtually every website, form and app — HEIC often isn't, especially on Windows and older software.
  • Visa, passport and job-application portals commonly require JPG/JPEG uploads and reject .heic files outright.
  • The conversion happens on your device. Personal photos never leave your browser — nothing is uploaded.
  • Use the quality slider to balance file size against fidelity; 80–90% is visually identical for most photos.

Frequently asked questions

Why won't my HEIC photo open on Windows?

Windows needs paid HEVC codecs to open HEIC natively, so many PCs simply can't display it. Converting the photo to JPG makes it open in any viewer, browser or editor.

Does converting HEIC to JPG lose quality?

JPG is a lossy format, but at 85–90% quality the difference is invisible for photos. You can preview the result and adjust the quality slider before downloading.

Is my photo uploaded to a server?

No. The conversion runs entirely in your browser — your image is processed on your own device and never uploaded to a server.

Can I convert many HEIC photos at once?

Yes — switch to Batch mode to convert up to 100 HEIC photos to JPG in one go and download them as a ZIP.
