About Ohata

Ohata is a free passport & visa photo maker and a suite of photo utilities that run entirely in your browser. There is no upload step — your photos are processed on your own device and never sent to a server.

Why we built it

Getting an ID photo accepted shouldn't require a store visit, a paid app, or handing a biometric photo to someone's server. Ohata crops and fits your photo to the official specification — no AI retouching, no filters, no watermarks — which also keeps photos compliant with rules like the US State Department's 2026 ban on AI-edited passport photos.

How the specs are verified

Every one of the 126 country specifications links the official government source it was checked against, and carries the date it was last verified. A build-time gate keeps any spec without an official source out of production. Requirements do change — the issuing authority's website is always the final word, and each country page links directly to it.

Privacy by architecture

The passport maker and all utilities (background removal, compress, resize, convert, upscale) do their processing with code running in your browser. The only times an image leaves your device are actions you explicitly take — like sending prints to a partner or opening a copy in Canva. Details are in the privacy policy.
